Engineering opened in January 2004 by Ken Watters II, P.E. to provide quality
structural engineering design and consultation.
Ken has experience with many diverse projects including single-family
homes, multi-family homes, and commercial buildings.
Before
starting KW Engineering Ken worked for several different component manufacturers
and, most recently, was the engineering manager for one of the mid-Atlantic
region’s largest turn-key framing companies.
Currently, Ken is a member of the Engineering Review Board for the Wood
Truss Council of America and helped create the BCSI 1-03 booklet “Guide to
Good Practice for Handling, Installing & Bracing of Metal Plate Connected
Wood Trusses”.
He is also a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers,
the Truss Plate Institute (he served on their Technical Advisory
Committee on truss bracing), the International Code Council, and Maryland
Building Officials Association.
Ken
is a 1994 graduate of Penn State University with degrees in both Structural and
Mechanical Engineering.
He is licensed as a Professional Engineer in Pennsylvania, Maryland,
Virginia, West Virginia and Colorado.
Ken also has more than 20 years experience in construction.
With this diverse background of field experience and formal education Ken
strives to provide all clients with safe, constructible designs and repairs with
respect to wood, steel, and concrete.
